Tranquility in my own backyard

Tranquility in my own backyard

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter then you know that I had the opportunity to travel home to my native country Nigeria [West Africa] for 6 weeks. This trip was very important to me because I hadn’t been to Nigeria in a little over 8 years and for the first time, I was traveling internationally; all by myself [big girl status]. I was very excited to be around family members that I had not physically seen in a long time, eat local food that I was missing out on and not to mention, escape the harsh winters of Ohio to enjoy endless sunny skies.

It’s no secret that African fashion is taking the industry by storm. In the spirit of Women’s History Month, I highlight African ladies that are making noise in the fashion industry! Check it out right here on AfricentricsLIVE!

I went on a quick 48hour business trip getaway to the Big Apple last weekend & ya wanna know what I learned? NYC is COLD! …or in my 20-something years of living, I sill haven’t figured out how to dress for the winter. Either way, my dreams of ever living in the Concrete Jungle have again, been cancelled. It may take a little getting use to but, the walking is just too much for me [Ohio spoiled me].
I stayed in Manhattan at a super cool hotel called Pod 39. The hotel room was pretty much a tiny capsule which mirror pod-sized hotel rooms in Japan. The whole look & feel of the hotel was great & the staff was so helpful! For anyone interested in an inexpensive place to stay in a PRIME location [3 blocks from Grand Central Terminal], look into Pod 39. Yea, the rooms are small but who goes to NYC to worry about your hotel room size anyway? [thought so]. Thanks to Delta sky miles & cheap chic hotels, my bank account still loves me.
Ok, enough of my reviews…scroll down & enjoy my randomness!
